We’re looking for someone hands-on and data-driven to lead our marketing efforts and tell the world about Monzo.
We have an amazing product, hit one hundred thousand users within a year of launch, and we have huge ambitions: we want everyone in the UK to know who we are and what we do, and reach millions of users as quickly as possible. We need you to help us make that a reality. We’re community focused and aim to be as transparent as possible — that doesn’t always make it easy to distill what Monzo is into a single message, but it also gives us (and hopefully, you!) an incredible opportunity to build something different.
The role
This is an incredible opportunity to shape the Monzo message and have a massive impact on our success. We’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to dive in and do it themselves, while still keeping an eye on the bigger picture.
You’ll be responsible for the top of the funnel: you will get people who have never heard of Monzo to understand who we are, what we stand for, and how we’ll be useful to them. Your work will focus on driving people to download the Monzo app. We’re in the process of assembling a separate Growth team that will focus on driving referrals and downloads from within the Monzo product, and great communication between you and that team will be vital.
What you’ll work on:
- overseeing a small team: currently two in Community, and a digital marketer focussing on paid acquisition. You’ll provide them with support and guidance to help them succeed.
- driving ambitious projects forward that have a real and measurable impact on the company — anything from launching our next crowdfunding round to announcing a new partnership to the world
- building and growing a small, effective marketing team that makes Monzo the envy of every other company
You’ll work closely with every team across the company - including design, product, customer operations and data - to make sure we’re telling the world about the things that matter, pushing forward in the right direction and driving long-term growth across the company.
You should apply if:
- you’re hands-on: you know what impactful, measurable marketing looks like and can show examples of where you’ve done it
- you’re data driven, analytical and always know how you’re impacting your metrics
- you have some experience managing a team
- you can balance ten different projects and reliably prioritise them to follow through on your commitments
- you believe in the mission and think the whole world needs to know about Monzo.

Logistics
Our interview process consists of a 30-minute initial phone interview, a take-home test, and a half-day on-site interview.
Work will generally be on-site in our office (near Old Street), where – if successful – you'll join a small hand-picked team of engineers, designers, product people, and banking experts on a mission to change consumer financial services forever.
